Today, our church will send its Students and Adult Sponsors to St. Simons and Brunswick to share the witness of this church with people in those cities who have been impacted by Hurricane Irma. The Student Mission Team will be working with children and families in multi-family housing areas, mobile home parks and senior adults living centers telling Bible stories, singing, playing and leading in worship.
The Bible commissions us to:
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit…” (Matthew 28:19)
Having been called by God to “GO”, our young people have responded and will travel 4 hours away in obedience to the Lord’s command. We thank God for each young person and every adult sponsor who has volunteered. We will support them as they go with our prayers and our resources. The following Commissioning Service will pledge the blessings of this congregation upon our Student Mission Team:
- Leader: The Bible declares that God has commissioned every Christian to make disciples of all nations. We present these students before you, O God, as those who have responded to this call and are dedicating themselves now to help fulfill Your Commission.
- Team Members: We commit ourselves to your service Lord, in response to you call to serve with Golden Isles Ministries of Brunswick, Georgia by sharing the love of Jesus with children, family members and senior adults who need to know Him.
- Leader: We as the congregation of Grace Baptist Church, being committed to God’s mission in our own community and throughout the world, pledge ourselves to daily pray for each member of our Mission Team during their journey.
- Congregation: We will join together in supporting you all as you go in obedience to God’s Great Commission.
Grace is a missionary Baptist Church. Not only are we sending out our young folks to do the work of missions, but we are collecting love offering gifts for the thousands of people who are recovering from hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. So far, our church has collected over $500, which will be used to purchase clean up and recovery supplies for people in the Caribbean, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. We will put “MUD OUT” buckets together that will be sent to help people rebuild and restore their lives and homes. When our neighbors are in trouble, God’s people work together to help them in the name of Jesus. If you have not yet contributed to this mission effort, you may do so this morning. GIVE GENEROUSLY!
Also, the SHOE BOX season is beginning by which we fill shoe boxes in partnership with the Samaritan’s Purse Ministry which provides needed items for children in third world mission areas. Grace participates with thousands of churches across the nation who give these items to help children have crayons, flip flops, tooth brushes, t-shirts, soap, hats, etc. Filling up a child’s shoe box is a good way to love a child in the name of Jesus.
Sending our young people on mission, filling up MUD BUCKETS, or partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to provide items that children need are ways our church fulfills God’s Great Commission.
Isn’t it Great to be a Missionary at Grace Baptist Church.
