Trustees Sign Documents for Purchase of New Grace Baptist Location

IT WAS AWESOME!

I give thanks to God and to the people of our church for the incredible privilege of being a part of what God is doing at Grace. The Bible says, “…have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea’, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you” (Mark 11:22-24). Faith, prayer and blessings are the ways God moves His church forward. The purchase of our new location and buildings is the result of our faith in the sufficiency of God, the power of prayer and the amazing blessing of God. I CAN’T WAIT FOR EVERYONE TO STAND ON THE NEW SITE OF OUR CHURCH AND SEE WHAT GOD HAS DONE.

Today, I will be preaching from the prophet Amos. Amos was a country preacher who preached hard about the sins of Israel. He preached about God’s judgement and coming destruction if they did not repent and change their ways. To Amos, true faith does not just happen inside the church. It must take place outside through our changed behavior. A true believer is one who seeks God’s will, treats others fairly, and follows God’s commands.

Have you heard about the man who prayed, “God, so far today, I’ve done all right. I haven’t gossiped. I haven’t lost my temper. I haven’t been grumpy, nasty, or selfish. I’m really glad of that! But now, I have to get up and get out of bed and from then on, I’m probably going to need a lot of your help.”

We do need a lot of help, don’t we? We need the help of God’s word telling us about the “wages of sin.” We need the help of the Holy Spirit, to convict us and teach us how to repent and find forgiveness for our sins. We need the fellowship of God’s people to hold us accountable and pray for us when we fall into sin. Thank God for these Amos-type influences God gives to keep us out of trouble.

The Bible is not a book you finish reading.
It is a book that you read so that it may finish you.
